3 Questions to Ask Yourself When You Purchase a Family Car

Sponsored post.

So you’re considering getting a new car. Or more specifically, a family car.

Buying a car whether a new or used one requires a lot from the family budget so it certainly is a good idea to think about it well before you make the purchase.  So to all women and mothers in the house, here are 3 things to consider asking as you make that decision for the car.

  1. Who’s driving? Are you the one driving most of the time? Or perhaps your husband or an older child would also be driving? The car should fit your needs and preferences then if you are the one who would be behind the wheel all or most of the time behind the family car. But if other members of the family will also have their time behind the wheels, then their preferences should be considered, too.
  2. What are the car’s features? Think about the safety features of the car as your kids will be riding with you. But don’t stop there, in fact, check every feature of the car you have in mind for the family. Do your research. Visit several car outlets and dealers. Know that you can also do your research online. Cars.com can provide you the details and information you need. The site even provides car costs as well as helpful car reviews and videos.

  3. Am I aiming for a new car or a used one? As you consider the car features and your budget, you also need to weigh in if a new car or a 2nd-hand one is the choice for you this time. Getting a new one would be great but would it fit your budget? If you’re getting a used one at a cheaper rate, are you sure it’s worth the savings in the long run?

Buying a family car is a decision that will mean more mobility and even more fun for the family but it will also mean financial cost for you, your husband. Do your best to make sure that you have made the right choice.

Making My “To-Buy” List

Well, another way to call it would be a shopping list. But we often associate a shopping list with a grocery list so I thought a “To-Buy” list would be a better name for the list of things we need (and perhaps want!) to buy.

Below are some of the things I would like to buy this year as our budget permits or as surprise provisions or blessings come in:

  1. living room sofa – We currently use a slightly pre-loved sofa which we got about 3 years ago. It still is in good condition but has been a bit discolored by now. So I thought it would be nice to get a new one some time this year.
  2. washing machine – It would be great to finally get a new, fully-automatic one 🙂
  3. work table – I have a small office/work table at home. I thought it would be great to have a bigger one so it can accommodate our printer as well as some of my files at home.
  4. bed and pillows – Our bed has been with us for 8 years. We lack a good bed frame to support our bed so getting a new one would be nice. Wait! Perhaps this should be first on the list! 🙂 I think we also need new pillows, too.
  5. guitar – I missed having a guitar at home. My husband and I play the guitar a bit. I think it’s a relaxing hobby plus we both love singing as well so a guitar is really handy at home. It’s good news then that quality guitars with great prices can also be bought online such as ibanez rg available at Musicians Friend. It saves you time and money (!) from going into stores. Plus such cool deals can be found online.
  6. stove and electric kettle  – Our stove is still functioning but I think wear and tear is at work with it 🙂  So we might need to get a new one eventually. Our electric kettle is also starting to have problems so yes, we might need a replacement for it some time soon.

Other things that need to be improved at home: water connection/sink, kitchen set-up.

I think making a “To-Buy” list for things is great. Just like our grocery list, it helps us see what needs to be bought. In the end, it helps us to better manage our finances.

What’s in Your Bag?

What’s in your bag? What’s in your children’s bag?

Several years back, we may not be thinking of regularly bringing laptops with us for work. Or that our kids would also need to, as they go to school or university. Bringing laptops to work or school may not be something that we are used to before, but now it has become quite a regular thing. Sometimes it can be a challenge then as it may not always be comfortable to do so — it would also mean bringing a laptop bag or another bag for your laptop.

The good news is that you can have a bag that can contain all your essential stuff as you leave your house (wallets, keys, beauty/grooming essentials, etc) but it can also contain your books, folders and yes, your laptop! This is what the Classic Water Resistant School College Bag Rucksack Travel Backpack will do for you. Your 14 Inch Laptop can fit right in with all your other stuff! Check it out:

This is how the inside part of the bag looks like:
